I had dinner with four amazing women last evening, and as you can probably guess, the conversation revolved around teaching.  We were dissecting the characteristics exemplary educators possess.  What is it that gives them the ability to truly make a difference?  The funny thing is I was sitting at a table with four unique people who possess those very qualities.

Today my mind has been reeling with thoughts of the educators who have inspired me – as a student, a parent, and as a teacher.  Their quiet dedication to quality and care goes unpublicized even though they are much more worthy of print than the reality and sports stars that grace today’s headlines.  If they were on the front page, headlines would read:

Educator’s Passion and Commitment for Learning is Contagious – Catch the Fever or is it Fervor?

I want to say thank you to all the educators who strive day in and day out to make a difference in the life of a child.  Your plans, workload, and worries are plentiful as you quietly go about your business molding, inspiring, and empowering the people whose lives you touch.  Know that your work is vital and significant.  As Gandhi said, “In a gentle way, you can shake the world,” and you do.
